Important Piggy Information

Taking the piggie plunge

There are a few things you will need before signing up to be a piggie parent

The legal stuff

Pigs are wonderful pets, but they are still farm animals as such, you need to apply for a CPH (county parish holding) number. It’s a straight forward process that you can do online or by phoning the rural payments agency 03000 200 301. They are really helpful, and its free!...just let that sink in for a moment, there isn't many things in life that are easy and free!

The Practical stuff:

Space

Pigs, even small ones need space. Each piggie needs at least 5 metres x 2.5 metres of outdoor space for themselves. They are at their happiest when they are rooting around all day long. But, don't think for one minute they will respect your neatly manicured lawn...natural born excavators these guys

Security:

yeah, well these guys aren’t going to steal your jewellery, but they can be good at escaping. As they grow up they love to dig so make sure you fence them securely in an area you don’t mind being dug up.

Supplies:

It’s a good idea to know where your nearest farm supply store is, for food and other necessities. We have listed some local stores to give you some help
